Local teacher from Chesterbrook Academy receives national recognition
CHANTILLY, Va. (Nov. 3, 2009) - Chesterbrook Academy in Chantilly, Va., is honored to announce that first grade teacher Jennifer Fisher has been named Teacher of the Year by Chesterbrook Academy's parent organization, Nobel Learning Communities, Inc., and its National Educational Advisory Board. Fisher was nominated by parents, the school's principal, teachers and staff members to receive this national recognition. The award was formally presented at Nobel Learning's national principal conference, which was recently held in Las Vegas.
As Teacher of the Year, Fisher was recognized for her dedication both inside and outside the classroom, as well as her ability to adapt to the learning needs of her students. Fisher has consistently provided her first graders with the tools and opportunities to develop the skills necessary for future success. This award also acknowledges Fisher's leadership skills, as well as her determination to not only better herself and her students, but the school as a whole.
"Jennifer's ability to master curriculum integration and tailor it to meet the needs of each student, make her an excellent teacher and very deserving of this award," said Katie Luther, principal of Chesterbrook Academy. "Her passion and enthusiasm for teaching shines through in all aspects of her career and is shared with everyone at Chesterbrook Academy."
Nobel Learning Communities' Teacher of the Year program recognizes teachers who stand out by demonstrating a strong commitment to inspire, motivate and educate students and staff alike. Along with the title Teacher of the Year, Fisher received $2,000 in cash, stock options, a round trip airline ticket to anywhere in the U.S., and, an all-expense paid trip to the national conference in Las Vegas.
"As a teacher who has the pleasure of working with young children everyday, I strive to open their eyes to the love of learning," said Jennifer Fisher. "Thanks to the supportive environment here at Chesterbrook Academy, I am able to accomplish this goal and provide each student with the skills, knowledge and confidence to succeed. I'm thrilled and truly humbled to receive this honor."
