21st century skills lead to authentic learning

Research shows that students need more than just academic content knowledge to achieve their goals as they progress through school and into their careers. We have created dynamic and innovative projects that incorporate core content and skills they’ll need for the 21st century, including:

  • Communication
  • Social Responsibility
  • Critical and Systems Thinking
  • Accountability
  • Information and Media Literacy
  • Self-Direction
  • Creativity and Intellectual Curiosity
  • Problem Solving
  • Interpersonal and Collaborative Skills

Each school year is divided into quarters, and each of those quarters focuses on a 21st century theme. The themes are global awareness, environmental studies, systems and leadership.

Project-based learning enables students to apply what they have learned in their classrooms to solve complex problems. Students work on authentic problems that do not have one right answer, and engage in active inquiry to look at each issue from multiple perspectives.
